Inviting Hoko to visit your sangha or group
Sanshin's vice abbot, Hoko Karnegis, is available for guest teaching and visits to other dharma centers. Past events have included activities such as dharma talks, half-day and one-day workshops and retreats, sesshin, and baika classes. As an adjunct instructor at the college level, Hoko can offer classroom presentations and discussion for students in comparative or Eastern religion, Asian studies, etc. From time to time, she also serves as an administrative consultant to sanghas working on strategic thinking, communications, board development and programming.
Begin by looking at the Sanshin calendar to rule out dates when Hoko will be leading or managing events in Bloomington. In addition, travel outside the region may be limited during Sanshin's busy ango (practice period) from April through early July and during fall hurricane season. If your preference is a visit during these times, please be prepared with alternate dates just in case.
There is no set fee for Hoko's visits; hosts are simply asked to cover travel expenses, and any donations to Sanshin that participants wish to make are gratefully accepted.
